Welcome to the MGA
We all love golf and most of us have played for years, yet somehow we still suck at it. Since the PGA Tour stopped returning our calls a long time ago, we created our own league in 2006. Since then, the MGA has gone global with chapters golfing, enjoying beer and meeting cool (no douche bags allowed) new people worldwide!
How it works
Any non-douche who "gets it" is welcome to join their local chapter or start their own if there's no chapter near them. Chapters create a logo and get a chapter page for their city.
MGA for Malaysian golfers
The MGA is an NGO (non-government organization) that was started back in 1929. Having been around for almost a century has provided MGA the experience and knowledge to promote golf in the country and abroad. What makes MGA so unique is that the organization is run by volunteers who are passionate golfers themselves.
Promoting and developing the game of golf in Malaysia
Basically, MGA handles all golfing issues in the country. From policy making and input to organizing events, the association has grown. From its inception, the MGA has grown in terms of responsibilities and network. It had 15 members in 1953 and has to date 175 affiliates nationwide.
Tournaments organized by MGA
The Malaysian Amateur Open – The oldest golf tournament in the country, it has been held annually since 1894 besides 1917, 1918, 1941 to 1948. As such, it has more been run for more than a hundred times. This was the departing initiative of Major-General Sir Charles Warren, the Commander of the Troops in The Straits Settlement then.
