Costco Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter
When the world was first introduced to the Kirkland Signature 4-piece golf balls, Costco found itself immediately in the center of Golf Internet hype.
The Looks
A common theme will come up with this putter, and it starts with the looks. The Kirkland KS1 looks fine. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s a wider-profile Anser 2 shape in a matte silver finish with the usual Kirkland brand color schemes.
How Does it Feel?
Costco offers the KS1 stock at 34.5 inches with two 10 gram sole weights and a SuperStroke Counter Core Mid Slim 2.0 grip. I’m guessing this was an effort to make a putter that sits right in the middle of a wide range of players’ preferences. Frankly, these choices are interesting and sort of result in a weird feel.
How Does it Sound?
Like the feel, the Kirkland KS1 has a thinner “click” to it at impact with a little mushiness to it. This is likely a result of the choice to go with an insert for the face rather than a single-piece head. It’s a thinner insert (see above) with, apparently, two pockets milled out in the toe and heel portions of the putter.
On-Course Performance
Overall, the Kirkland KS1 putter performs pretty well. Most of it is going to come down to whether or not you get along well with the rest of the categories we’ve already discussed. If you don’t mind what you’re looking at behind the ball and are comfortable with the feel, you’ll be able to roll this putter just fine.
Final Thoughts – Costco Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter
This putter is a confusing and complex enigma to me. A CNC-milled stainless steel putter with interchangeable weights for ~$150 should generally be a really good deal. That said, I’m not sure where this putter falls in terms of value.

Are Costco Clubs Worth It?
In conclusion, these are two golf products that will definitely not disappoint and should be taken seriously as a contender for any player looking to improve their game and sharpen their set of skills.
The History of Costco
Costco’s history spans back to July 12, 1976, when Sol Price and his son, Robert, opening the first Price Club warehouse in San Diego. Through multiple mergers and acquisitions, the company expanded its product list and offering selling from 804 warehouses internationally of which 558 are located in the USA and territories.
The Golf Ball Saga
The initial Kirkland Signature golf ball was a 4-piece construction and supply could not keep up with the demand at the price point that it was sold at.
Costco Ball Comeback
In 2020 after addressing the quality control issues, Costco reintroduced the Kirkland Signature 3-piece V2.0 golf ball with a urethane cover. This ball received great reviews and have not shown the same quality issues. At the price point of around $24.99 per 2-dozen, it is highly regarded and appreciated by golfers from around the globe.
Back to Kirkland Golf Clubs
Now that we have a brief overview of who Costco is and its first foray into golf equipment let’s look at who makes Kirkland golf clubs.
Kirkland Wedges
The 3-piece wedge set was released late in 2020 after the putter was released in June 2020. Wedges come in a standard configuration of a 52-degree gap wedge, 56-degree sand wedge, and a 60-degree lob wedge. Unfortunately, you cannot select the bounce of the clubs as they are standard with one bounce option.
Final Thoughts
Costco has made its mark with the entry into the golfing equipment market with its Kirkland Signature golf ball, putter, and wedges.

Nothing more, nothing less. It’s a wider-profile Anser 2 shape in a matte silver finish with the usual Kirkland brand color schemes. The Kirkland badge in the cavity looks kind of cheap, if we’re being honest, as does whatever this “TRULINE” feature on the neck is. Even though this p…

50 Words Or Less
- With the Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter, Costco marks its first foray into the golf club space. While there’s certainly room to improve, you cannot deny this putter is a valiant first try for what many consider to be just a grocery store. The KS1 putter offers stellar value, premium components, and good feel.
Introduction
- Typically, I don’t like talking about prices in reviews, because the quality, performance, and feel should be the main story. However, when talking about Costco clubs, price has to be mentioned. When premium putters like Scotty Cameron, Toulon, and Bettinardi sell for as much as $450 and even standard new putters like Odyssey, Mizuno, and PING sell for upwards of $200, it’s shockin…
Looks
- To the general golfing public, it may be hard to tell the difference between this putter and something much, much more expensive like some of those brands I mentioned above. It’s an Anser or Newport-style blade, with a plumber’s neck, silver in color, unassuming and understated in nature. It features a boxy blade head with two circular 10-gram weights on the bottom of the c…
Sound & Feel
- Often I find the feel of a club originates with the head, but even before striking one putt, I was shocked to see that this golf club comes with a $35 SuperStroke Mid Slim 2.0 CounterCore grip. It offered comfort, security, and tremendous valueto the club. With how thick it is, it takes wrist action out of the equation. For reference, I currently game a Special Select Scotty Cameron New…
Performance
- Ultimately, if a putter doesn’t sink putts, it’s no good right? Well, I can report that the KS1 made plenty of putts and performed well. While I was disappointed that it felt noticeably “thinner” than my current gamer, it still sank some putts. I will say that speed controlfelt like an issue — sometimes leaving puts short and often hitting it longer than expected. Some of that issue is lik…
Conclusion
- Kirkland Signature was trying to make a premium feeling putter for a fraction of what the major OEMs cost. They somewhat succeeded. I think the name “KS1” is very telling. To me, this reads like a proof of concept — a trial run. Similarly to how Cobra first partnered with HPto make a 3D printed putter in November of 2020 before releasing an entire line of 3D printed puttersthis year, …
