Since the vast majority of PGA tour players play either the ProV1 or the ProV1x (which has no colored option), perhaps that the answer. Also, I believe most people play a colored ball because it provides better optics and is easier to find.

I think it has to do with the fact that the #1 ball on tour doesn't come in any other colors. That being said, I doubt many pros would change to a colored ball even if it did come in something other than white.

Back in the 80's I believe colored balls were all the rage....for a while. Nicklaus even used an orange ball for a while.
