If golf fans around Virginia noticed the LPGA Tour’s 2022 schedule release Friday, they might have seen a notable omission from the 34 official events: There is no tournament at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg. After Taiwan’s Wei-Ling Hsu won the Pure Silk Championship on May 23, Kingsmill said it was searching for a new title sponsor.
What happened to the Kingsmill Pure Silk Championship?
After Taiwan’s Wei-Ling Hsu won the Pure Silk Championship on May 23, Kingsmill said it was searching for a new title sponsor. None ever was announced, and a tournament that had been held annually since 2003 — except for 2010 and ‘11, plus the pandemic-related cancellation in 2021 — won’t return next year.
Is Kingsmill’s LPGA tournament returning in 2023?
One of Virginia’s biggest professional sporting events is on hiatus this year, but organizers plan to bring back the tournament in 2023 with a new sponsor and enhanced experiences for participants and fans. Kingsmill Resort is continuing the search for a title sponsor for the LPGA tournament it has hosted for all but three of the last 19 years.

2021 Winner, Wei-Ling Hsu
Sealing her first career win on the LPGA tour, Wei-Ling Hsu shot 71-67-65-68 | 271 to win by two strokes on Sunday. “I think this is the happiest thing ever, how my caddie cried and somehow I just cried so hard on the last hole. But I feel happy and just happy,” Hsu said of how she felt after her historic win.
