One of the greatest things about living in today’s golf world is the access to some affordable technology that can be a game changer in your golf game and life. For years, golfers tried to find “the secret in the dirt,” but now golfers can have immediate feedback on the followings items:

Why do golfers slow down?

They start to try to manipulate the swing and make everything perfect in their downswing and end up slowing down prior to impact.

How many degrees should your hips rotate?

Your shoulder turn rotate or turn about 90 degrees and your hips should rotate or turn around 45 degrees . Most golfers can make this turn if they aren’t restricting movement in the golf swing. If this means your front foot has to come slightly off the ground, no problem at all!.

What is the most important part of a golf swing?

One of the most important parts of any golf swing when it comes to speed is the ability to make a complete turn. If you fail to turn your hips and shoulders enough, not only do you cut down on potential speed in your swing, but many other issues can start to creep in.

What is the best tempo for golf?

Did you know that the best golfers utilize a 3:1 ration in backswing to downswing. The best golfers in the world have a 24:8, 21:7 and sometimes as fast as an 18:6 swing tempo. The old days and advice of taking a long and slow backswing is not good advice.

What is current form in golf?

You will hear these buzzwords often in DFS golf, and it is sort of akin to the “BvP” debate in baseball. Golf is very much a mental game, so current form is a factor you need to consider. If a guy has put up a top ten finish in three straight tournaments, he’s probably got something good working for him. Conversely, if a guy has missed five straight cuts, he’s probably trying to work things out. That is the “current form” part of the debate, and most people agree that it is important. The “course history” piece is more polarizing. However, there are certain guys that just tend to do better on certain tracks. If a guy has played a tournament 15 times without ever missing a cut, it’s safe to say that he likes playing on that course. As a recreational golfer myself (albeit a terrible one), there are just some courses that I like playing better than others. A professional golfer is no different.

How many rounds are there in a golf tournament?

Golf tournaments are generally played over four rounds, with the first round on Thursday and the final round on Sunday. Most tournaments have somewhere between 132 and 156 golfers, and there is a “cut” that takes place after two rounds. That reduces the field to the top 65 golfers (plus ties), and only those golfers play the weekend rounds. If more than 78 golfers are included in the top 65 plus ties, there is another cut after the third round in order to get the field closer to 65.

What is the most important day of the week in fantasy golf?

Obviously, players who don’t play on the weekend aren’t going to accumulate points for your rosters! This is why many people consider Friday to be the most important day of the tournament, in addition to the final round on Sunday. If you get all your golfers through to the final two rounds, you are likely sitting pretty in your contests for the week. Some smaller field tournaments do not feature a cut after the second round, but the above parameters are what you will be working with about 90% of the time.

Is it better to have more golfers on one set of tee times?

If there’s a weather pattern that sets up to where it will be extra windy for one set of tee times, it is often advantageous to set your lineup with more golfers from the favorable side of the weather draw. If you think this is something that I am overreacting to, just ask plenty of people who have won GPP s (myself included) because they came out ahead in the weather department. It doesn’t always make a difference, but there are two to three times a year where it can be a real key.

Is golf a sport in DFS?

Golf may not be a sport that you HAVE to watch in order to succeed in DFS, but it certainly helps. Simply watching one round of golf on television will allow you to see shots from maybe 20 different golfers. You will quickly learn who the bigger hitters are, who the better players are, and the nuances of the game will come to you quickly. There is something to be said about this approach, and it helped me enjoy watching golf on television. Yes, it’s more exciting than most people make it out to be (I will admit there is plenty of opinion in that statement).

Is golf a fantasy game?

Golf can be a rewarding daily fantasy game, but go into it knowing that it can also be a tough grind. Variance is largely inherent in the sport, and I liken it to baseball in that realm. The better players will come out as long-term winners, but it can be frustrating from week to week.

Is fantasy golf a good sport?

Divulging My DFS Process

A couple of months ago, someone asked me to divulge my DFS process. Although my process is almost certainly inferior to the processes of Peter Jennings, Jonathan Bales, and almost anyone else who happens to write for this site, I think that if you were to follow this process you would likely not be awful at DFS. Here’s my process.

Deposit a Set Amount of Money

I believe that far too many people don’t know how much money they’ve deposited into DFS platforms. You must keep track of your investment. Either put a set amount of money into DFS platforms one time and plan on that being your bankroll for a set amount of time — or keep track of all your DFS deposits in a spreadsheet.

DFS is an Investment

I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating: DFS is an investment. Just as you shouldn’t put too much of your investable money in stocks, real estate, commodities, or any other class of assets, you also shouldn’t put too much of your money into DFS platforms.

Know Your Skill Level

This is a really important and difficult step of the process. To borrow from Bill Parcells, over a sustained period of time you are what the numbers say you are. If you are someone who loses money consistently playing in $10 cash games, then maybe you have just experienced a prolonged stretch of bad luck.

Create Your Own Analytical and Evaluative Process

Each of us is responsible for creating our own process. My process involves heavily relying on people who know more than I do or who think about information in ways that I wouldn’t have considered. So I read John Daigle’s daily slate breakdown. I read each Trend of the Day and Plays of the Day article.

Bankroll Management

I never play more than five percent of my bankroll on any given day. That’s just a personal rule that I have. I’ve found that it helps me continue to have money to play for the foreseeable future. Some people play a higher percentage. Others play a lower percentage.

Time Management

Figure out what is important to your process (and life) and then focus on those things and cut down on everything else that is extraneous.

This is a lesson that all golfers can learn. Try to under-react to your bad shots and just go get the ball and try again, or adjust your gameplan to be a little more conservative if you continue to struggle. Remaining calm can help you make better decisions and help your shots stay in play.

How many clubs can you carry in a golf bag?

You can carry up to 14 clubs in your bag and they are all a different length. That alone leads to insistency with many golfers. Taking a real practice swing allows you to get used to the length club you are swinging and if the ball is on the ground, also gives you the opportunity to have that club brush the grass.

What happens if you lose your balance in golf?

If you make your perfect golf swing and you lose your balance you could ruin a perfect golf shot.
