That was a very gracious letter. Very smart, too; no need to burn bridges. I always thought of him as competent guy you could plug in anywhere. GC seems to think every guy needs to be "big personality guy" these days.

I shouldn't comment as I don't know the whole situation, but I will anyway: I liked Brian. I lose a little more respect for the golf channel each year as they slowly change from a place for the love of golf to sensationalist commentary, brainless entertainment, and tabloid gossip.

I remember when Brian left TV in Indianapolis for "the new all Golf Channel". I think he has had a good ride. I don't believe anybody really pays for longevity anymore. I would say 21 years was long enough. Hammonds is a good sports journalist. He just happened to concentrate on golf for the 2 decades. I wish him good luck in his next endeavor.

TGC really needs to re-evaluate where they are going. Maybe listen to what the viewers are saying just a little. Their golf coverage is OK but they need expert commentators. In my measure they just let one go. Can't help but wonder who they have in mind to replace him.

Costs too much to keep. Doesn't pay to get old in broadcasting I guess.

I will miss Brian Too. Very sorry to hear this. He's a class act. I hope a great opportunity comes his way. It sounds like he has made many friends and that should stand him in good stead when something comes up.

OK, let's get rid of Brian Hammons, but let's keep..... Charlie Rhymer Cara Robinson Damon Hack Bailey Moser Matt Gaynella Lisa Cornwell Notah Begay !!! Phil Parkin Looks like NBC is cleaning out those with TGC before they bought it. Maybe Brian Hammons didn't tweet enough to comply w/NBC's Social Media requirements.
When did the golf channel lay off?
The Golf Channel on Monday told most of its Orlando-based staff that it would be laid off starting August 29, then allowed those staffers to reapply for a smaller pool of jobs.
Is Golf Channel on NBC?
Golf Channel is televised in more than 70 countries and nine languages. Beginning in 2013, nearly all of the operations for NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network began to be based out of a Stamford facility. The move was made mainly to take advantage of tax credits given by the state of Connecticut.
