Some people just never get the hang of finding neutral. Clutch adjustment is a big factor, if there is drag, you will pull too hard and "miss" N. Being new, can make it tough to determine if you have some clutch drag. A bit of a trick is to slightly release then pull the lever all the way in, and nudging the lever to N.

Try bringing rpm up from idle a bit. Too low of idle can sometimes cause this.

If it goes into neutral ok when the engine is not running, then the problem is that the clutch is dragging (not fully disengaging). It is not bent shift forks or worn out bearings.

Like Bubbie, I adjust the clutch with very little freeplay...just make sure the zero lash is when the bar is turned to the left lock, when turned to the right lock there will be the just a bit of freeplay so you DO have the full lever stroke for actuating the clutch.
