His performance as an analyst at Ryder Cup 2021 “Featured Groups” stream for NBC/Golf Channel was superb. The three-time Ryder Cupper is easy-to-listen to and has a great sense of humor when the moment calls for it. I predict bigger and better things for him in the golf broadcast universe.

Lance Barrow used to be the producer until he retired at the end of 2020. He had been with them for 35 years or so. The new producer is a guy named Sellers Shy who came up through the ranks working for them. The CBS broadcasts were getting tired and Shy has brought in some good changes. They are probably working out the ambient sound issues.

Feedback

To be equally clear, I am saying this is likely a work in progress. They are trying to make the viewer feel like they are at the event, hence the expanded use of drones to offer different perspectives, more and newer camera angles, and likely additional ambient mics for on-course sound.

Gary McCord and Peter Jacobson are pretty annoying, their humor seems forced. Feherty is awesome. Gannon is good, I don't particularly care either way for Nobilo. I like Miller, Faldo, Maltbie. Chamblee and Tripp Isenhour are douches.

glcarteraz

Terry Gannon doing golf is almost as bad as Erin Andrews doing anything . Andrews is enamored with herself, asks the worst questions that don't add anything. It is obvious she is trying to give a showy performance, not inform viewers. Her whole thing is getting her body/face on camera. Thank goodness for Fast Forward button.

cubdog

Another fan of Gannon. One of the better announcers in my humble opinion.

MrFlipper

I like announcers that either played at a high level or are regular folks who respect the game and don't say stupid things. Most are ok by me. Gannon is fine.

Johnny Miller is absolutely the worst in my opinion. He seems bitter that his horrible case of the Yips cut his career short. It's almost as annoying as Roger Maltby riding his Johnson throughout the entire telecast, "right Johnny" "whatcha think about that Johnny" "well Johnny, he's havibg flashbacks about his miss on 11 Johnny" Meh...

My husband and I crack up watching Terry Gannon stare at himself non-stop in the monitor. Pay attention and you will see what I am talking about. Nobody else on the set does it except him, and he HAS to do it every few seconds. ALWAYS looking at himself in the monitor. So annoying.
