Technological Evolution

By now, you probably have heard of 5G technology and how it's rolling out in many cities right now. Most new handsets tout themselves as 5G-ready or 5G-capable, and even carriers are making big news out of their 5G coverage.

3G Switch-Off: Your Car Doesn't Work Properly Anymore

However, it's not just phones that rely on 3G technology. You may be surprised, but many vehicles also use 3G. Both commercial fleets and everyday passenger vehicles use this technology for service communication, specifically telematics.

What Car Manufacturers Can Do

If you're a fleet owner, upgrading your telematics device is pretty simple—all you have to do is contact your provider ask them for an upgrade. You likely don't have to buy a new truck or van; you just have to replace the device they provide.

These Cars Are About to Lose 3G Connectivity

Not all car models will be affected by the 3G shutdown. In fact, most affected models were released between 2010 and 2018. Of course, if your vehicle does not have any wireless connectivity service, then you need not worry, as it's not affected.

A Future Problem

In the past, connectivity problems were limited to luxury cars. However, as connected services became more affordable, the technology trickled down to more affordable passenger vehicles. As this becomes more and more prevalent, you can expect these wireless connectivity services to be in almost every car.

Smartphones are getting faster, but some older connected cars may lose service forever

You may have heard the news that major 3G cellular networks will be shut down in the U.S. in 2022—yes, at the risk of making anyone feel especially old, we're far enough along in the 21st century that the tech that helped usher in the era of smartphones is now obsolete.

The Basics of the 3G Sunset

So why is this happening? Simply put, cellular providers are preparing to shut off their 3G signals to make room for more 5G.

The Affected Cars

Now, we already outlined a number of the connected vehicle services that automakers built on 3G networks over the last ten-plus years: everything from owner apps to emergency call services to in-nav functionalities to reporting telematics data back to the mothership.

So What's the Plan?

The plan, my friend, depends entirely on the automaker. For example, Stellantis says it plans to continue to offer connected services to its customers at a price.

A Preview of Coming Attractions

The logical answer is yes, this won't be the last time cars lose features the buyer might've assumed would work in perpetuity. This isn't even the first time a major wireless technology has been retired; AT&T, for example, shut down its 2G network back in 2017.

How To Regain Confidence And Your Golf Swing

I remember the first time I had lost my golfing mojo. I went from consistently swinging a score of 80-85, to being well into the triple digits. At the time, I couldn’t work out what was wrong with my golf swing. It felt like I went back in time, back to when I was a beginner.

How I fixed My Golf Swing

I decided to do 3 simple things each day for a total of 30 days. Once my own experiment was complete, I completely regained my swing and was chipping consistently. I’m happy to report that I was playing my best golf ever!

1. Practice One Drill 100 times

I made a promise to myself that I would practice hitting irons over and over again. In fact I chose to do the drill 100 times per day. I knew there wasn’t much point performing my normal golf routine. Instead I focused on the problem, and practiced consistently.

2. Meditate and Visualize Your Best Shots

Aside from repeatedly practicing I also incorporated 20 straight days of visualizing and meditation. The results are undeniable. This is when I saw a huge improvement in my golf swing! In fact after only 1 day of doing this I noticed a small but noticeable boost in my swinging technique.

The Visualization Experiment

Make no mistake about it. I have tried dozens of different ways to gain confidence on the golf course. This is why I feel extremely confident sharing my ideas with you. Although everyone’s situation is different, I likely know what’s going wrong in your game.

Summary

To conclude this article, I’m very confident that what I have shared with you will get you out of your golfing slump. In fact my technique works every single time for me!

rossvanwyk

So this is going to be a cross between a plea for advice and a depressed rant.

rossvanwyk

Awesome, thanks. I think I might try just grind it out with a wedge or 8i to get the groove back.

ditter

I feel your pain. Went through the same thing this summer. Was playing my best golf ever and was striking the ball really well. Then slowly it went away. Bad shot here and there turned into bad shots on the same hole. Bad holes turned to bad sides. Bad sides into bad rounds, even on courses I scored well on. It was ugly.

senorchipotle

if your backswing feels funky, i've found that working on posture is one of the best things one can do.

pjkgolfer

I am suffering from the same golf disease. I was a 12 about 2 years ago, now I'm around 21. I'm losing the fun I use to have. I wouldnt care but at one time I was striking the ball well. I get off rythum when the ball is elevated. I cant even hit off a tee. It throws off my tempo. I can even totally miss the ball. Once that starts I'm done.

1. Commit to something

Like golf advice, there are all sorts of diets and workout plans you can do, and they probably all work to varying degrees. My advice, not as an expert but from a golfer-to-golfer, would be to pick something that works for you based on what you like to eat, and your overall lifestyle. And when you do, stick with it.

2. Eat what you want

Again, it all goes back to your comfort level, but everything I’ve read suggests staying away from restrictive diets. I’ve got a sweet-tooth, and if I tried to cut out chocolate altogether — that just seemed like a recipe for failure. There was nothing I had to eat or couldn’t eat. If I wanted something super unhealthy, I just had to budget for it.

5. Drink lots of water

I read some stuff about this, and it turns out drinking lots of water is a very real thing. It speeds up your metabolism and helps your body function better. I thought I was drinking a lot of water before, but when I started tracking my water intake, I quickly realized I wasn’t drinking enough. Now I’m drinking about 120 fl.

What happens when a golf game falls apart?

Typically, when a game falls apart, most players will realize that the issue lies in the setup. This can cause a domino effect, negatively impact clubface, path, pivot, and even your balance. If you want to see an instant improvement in your swing, make sure you keep your fixes simple.

Why does my golf swing fall apart?

To do, you must begin by bracing your left leg, followed by hip rotation, and all while keeping your upper body lagging behind in rotation with your lower body.

How to get back your swing?

Practice. When you lose your swing it’s often a result of sloppy habits and poor setup. Practicing golf drills in combination with hitting balls at the range is a great way to get back the power your swing is missing while also improving your aim, balance, weight shift, and timing.

How to get back to basics when your swing falls apart?

If your swing has fallen apart, it’s time to get back to the basics. Focus on squaring the clubface up at impact. In order to get your sequence and tempo working in tandem, begin with a few slow practice swings. As you start the downswing, you should feel your weight first transferring to your left foot.

How to swing a golf ball on the left side?

With your setup, place most of your weight on your left side. In your stance, your shoulders should be kept level and the ball should be slightly back. When you take a swing make sure you create a steeper angle while staying on your left side. As you swing you should have less tall grass to slice through.

Why is my golf ball stuck in the grass?

When a golf ball is stuck in the rough and you take a sweeping swing in order to free it this can result in the club head getting stuck in the grass, causing the club to twist and decelerate, sending your shot wild.

What control the face of the golf club?

Additionally, this can also create an outside in downswing path, costing you a lot of power. Your left wrist and hand are what control the face of the club. The right wrist, forearm, and hand control the path of the club.
