I play at least twice per week and practice at least 2 other times per week in some shape or form. Currently play midsized ndmc on all my clubs and have what i would consider a fairly light grip. Im certainly not strangling the club by any means b/c my grips are almost 3 seasons old and i dont have the thumb prints or fingers worn into them.

eagle1997

hirzl has kangaroo leather palms (not sure which version, maybe trust-control?). the palms were unbreakable. only problem was that the fingers were a weird fit for me and i ended up tearing the thumb seam in the same damn place everytime.

sjpaster

I had an instructor point out the same thing in my grip. Grip the club with your left hand at your side, and it will be in proper alignment. Also, choke up 1/2" so the butt isn't in the palm. I did that and have no wear on my glove where I used to wear through. I also have NDMCs on my clubs, although about 2.9 years newer.

Seems like the OP asked for help but deflects every suggestion as if everything he is doing is perfect, and maybe he is if he is a +1 handicap.

If your glove wears out really fast (like in a round or two) you might need to be concerned. If it takes a while, well all gloves wear out eventually and for each individual, probably at pretty much the same place but different for each individual - no big deal. Have a read through Harvey Penick's books. Take the glove off.

buttuh

I used to have this problem. It was the combination of the corded grips I had a long with me regripping the club on my down swing. Sometimes I'd get too loose and then over compensate by over tightening my grip on my down swing. The club would sometimes twists in my hand causing the rubbing in the thumb area.

pinhigh27

I have this same problem too, but even when I'm hitting the ball great. Will check the regripped out when I go play in a couple hours. Thanks for the wealth of suggestions!

duffputter

Thanks for all the feedback. My thumb wears right in the middle of my finger print. I going to flim my swing and notice if I'm regripping.

The crease (wrong word probably, but can't think of the right word) of your right palm should sit on top of your left thumb and stay in that spot applying a bit of pressure on top of your left thumb. In your swing that pressure isn't either there at the start or being maintained.
