One of the things that Justin Leonard was never known for was his ability to hit the ball far. Leonard could hit the ball plenty far enough to get distance, but he could not compete with the guys on tour who are driving the ball close to 400 yards at times. In fact, Justin Leonard really wouldn’t even want to compete with that.

Lenard is afflicted with A-G-E disease. Add in that he is not a power hitter, and the current tour favors such players, further compounds his problems.

On top of all that the dude turned pro in 1994. Name someone who was playing in 1994 besides Furyk that's still out there. They are either done or on the Champions.

Personally, I think as you ascend the list of things things that separates good from great, great from historic etc, there's a point at which the ability to be rewarded with great success and still care enough to keep grinding comes into play. The game got longer sure, but I don't think that explains it all.

Do you touch flag sticks on golf courses?
Justin Leonard: As far as competing on golf courses, most golf courses that I know of, you don't touch the flag sticks, the ball doesn't go down to the bottom of the hole, and there's no bunker rakes. They let the maintenance staff take care of that each night. Those are the biggest changes, just preventing people from spreading germs so that people can be comfortable in their social distancing and can comply with local and state authorities as far as what their rules and regulations are.
Feedback
Was never a huge Justin Leonard fan. However I admire what he's done for golf but at the same time I can see where the fans didn't get behind him. Especially later on in his career when he was only really competing in Fall series events.

He ranked in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Ranking for 24 weeks in 1998 and 1999.
