How To Regain Confidence And Your Golf Swing

I remember the first time I had lost my golfing mojo. I went from consistently swinging a score of 80-85, to being well into the triple digits. At the time, I couldn’t work out what was wrong with my golf swing. It felt like I went back in time, back to when I was a beginner.

How I fixed My Golf Swing

I decided to do 3 simple things each day for a total of 30 days. Once my own experiment was complete, I completely regained my swing and was chipping consistently. I’m happy to report that I was playing my best golf ever!

1. Practice One Drill 100 times

I made a promise to myself that I would practice hitting irons over and over again. In fact I chose to do the drill 100 times per day. I knew there wasn’t much point performing my normal golf routine. Instead I focused on the problem, and practiced consistently.

2. Meditate and Visualize Your Best Shots

Aside from repeatedly practicing I also incorporated 20 straight days of visualizing and meditation. The results are undeniable. This is when I saw a huge improvement in my golf swing! In fact after only 1 day of doing this I noticed a small but noticeable boost in my swinging technique.

The Visualization Experiment

Make no mistake about it. I have tried dozens of different ways to gain confidence on the golf course. This is why I feel extremely confident sharing my ideas with you. Although everyone’s situation is different, I likely know what’s going wrong in your game.

Summary

To conclude this article, I’m very confident that what I have shared with you will get you out of your golfing slump. In fact my technique works every single time for me!

What happens when you swing your body in golf?

When, instead of turning his body and shoulders on the backswing, the golfer moves his body laterally to the right, he fails to fully extend or coil the muscles of his left side.

How to save power in golf?

Correction: Hit down and through the ball. By leading with the left side and holding wrist “break” until the last possible moment, you save your power for the hitting area. This allows you to achieve the maximum clubhead speed at point of impact and to avoid raising your body in the hitting area.

How to correct a right handed golfer?

Correction: Shift some weight to the right leg on the backswing. Make certain that you turn and shift your weight in the same direction as you are moving the club. For right-handed players this would mean that some weight would shift to the right foot in rhythm with the clubhead’s move in that general direction.

Which way does a golfer shift weight?

Error: Shifting weight to the left on the backswing Often times, in an a ttempt to keep the head steady, a golfer will shift his weight to the left on the backswing. He will proably fall back to his right foot on the downswing, sacrificing a great deal of power.

Which arm is cocked in a downstroke?

These combined movements will automatically cause the left arm to straighten and right to cock early in the downstroke. Then, as the clubhead enters the hitting area, the left arm will be ready to conduct power to the club and the right arm can straighten and thrust the hands and clubhead throught the ball.

Feedback

I am a frequent player (3-4 rounds per week), and I have never been a long bomber. Distance has always been my one, true shortcoming in golf (for instance, I've never been able to hit a driver consistently), I can't reach most par-4 greens in regulation, even if I string two good shots together. This makes my current situation even more dire.

Feedback

I'm going to guess that, associated with the loss of distance, you feel as though you are working harder when you swing. It's a feeling of powerless effort instead of effortless power. If so, the issue could be due to over use of the upper arms and shoulders instead of allowing the body to generate the power and swing the arms.

Feedback

"...powerless effort instead of effortless power." You hit it right on the nose. I do feel like I'm working harder when I swing -- and by the end of my round, I feel completely wiped out. I'm going to study these videos tonight. Thanks for replying to my post.

Feedback

Maybe the cooler fall weather is the culprit. The ball does not fly as far, and my muscles always feel stiffer in the cool fall weather. I definately need much more stretching before, during, and after the round to stay pain free-flexible. Every fall season I loose 5-15 yards of "summer distance", and have to adjust club selection accordingly.

Feedback

do you have control of the clubface? could be that you are coming into everything w/ the face wide open and laid back. some shots still feel good because you're hitting the center of the clubface, but they don't go very far because that center of the clubface is angled at the sky.

Cobra 2022 Plans

Anyone have info on Cobra's plans for the upcoming release season? I know the blades are new and assume the King Tours are sticking around for another year (or...

stlouismark

I feel like I’ve lost between 10-15 yards on every club in the past 12-18 months. Same equipment, pretty much same swing etc. I just turned 37 and I’m in decent to good shape, not like I’ve lost muscle or flexibility......this has confounded me though.

MelloYello

Well, can't say it was unexpected by I experienced a big drop in SS when I injured something in my right should / upper back / neck. I pulled something really badly back in grad school. It happened during a round and I pushed through on the back 9. Long story short, I could barely move for the next week.

mbarnocki

Are you me? I am also 37 and the last two years or so I would say I have struggled with this. I did move to some new clubs but across the board I would say I have lost some yardage compared to ten years ago for sure. Office work, and a 5 year old, and only playing once a week at most are likely my causes.

Socrates

I worked on making my swing better and smoother during the winter. I'm hitting it better but now 1/2 a club shorter. I eventually will find the speed, or maybe not. I don't mind since I had lots of speed to work with.

bazinky

Have you had someone else determine that you really are swinging the same? Reason I ask is that I recently went through something similar after finally being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. Even after I got my mobility back and was playing pain free, I was a full 1-2 clubs shorter.

pearsonified

I'm 38, and my loss in distance (similar to yours) is *almost* solely due to technical flaws. I say almost because I'm no longer lifting heavy and thus cannot treat the club quite as much like a ragdoll as I could in the past.

QuigleyDU

over the last month my swing speed has been way down. But, I have been in the gym almost everyday, and I am always pretty sore. If I took some time off I think it would all come back and then some. I am also about ready to start a speed program I am putting together for myself.
