Obviously the biggest disadvantage of using glasses while playing golf is the rain but are there any other disadvantages that I might not have when using contact lenses?

There is a HUGE difference between wearing glasses and contacts. As long as you don't have a lot of astigmatism, go with the contacts. I switched in '86 and it was night and day. I saw everything better and didn't have to orient my head to deal with seeing the ball without seeing the frames.

I had a virus that kept me from wearing contacts for a couple years. When I was on the course, I would wear a pair or polarized prescription sunglasses (not full aviators, but pretty close). The minute I got contacts again, I went back to my sun dogs. As far as on tour goes, the only two I can think of is Kenny Perry and Carl Petterson

I have prescription Oakley's that don't move a centimeter during the swing that I like quite a bit. It is a pain on really hot days when you're working up a pretty good sweat. You do need to keep a clean towel to wipe them off. The other issue I have is when it's dark, say an early morning round on a rainy day.

I've worn glasses since I was a kid. I wear them golfing. I don't like wearing my prescription sunglasses golfing. They distort slightly differently than my regular lenses which I practice in. I have a buddy who got "Transitions" and thought they'd be good for golf. He hates them.

I wear glasses and have no real issues, when I first went to bifocal lenses it took some getting used to but now I dont even notice. I own two pair of prescription sunglasses one being Ray Bans and one being sport type, neither work well for golf, I get way too much distortion when looking down at the ball.

Used to play with glasses all the time with no issues. Now I wear contacts and it's like seeing all over again in terms of the freedoms and the extra peripheral vision, but golfing with glasses was never an issue for me, nor was fogging or sweating on them.
