Growing up, I was told that Gary Player held the course record at my local muni. Something about him stopping to play it in 1967. I never asked but assumed that it was from the tips with a typical set up and whomever played with him, vouched for the score. I wouldn't hold it against him if he picked up a 4 inch putt or whatever.

I've only seen two courses that have course records posted inthe clubhouse. One is in my hometown and the record is held by Sam Snead. They have the framed scorecard, and news article about him setting the record the first time he saw the course during an exhibition round.
