One of my playing partners who is a new golfer was not too happy after a 3jack, buried his putter head in the green next to the cup causing a 4" gash that was in line of my putt. I had to repair it to the best of my ability while he walked off the green.

fireguyfrank58

I have seen some kicking of the ball near the cup that caused a 1/8" cut in the green 2 ft long. I've also seen putter throw off the green that landed short and gashed the green. Those things are ridiculous and should be addressed but when it comes down to it I just don't play with them anymore.

"Baseball builds character, but golf reveals it." Ernie Banks. I've never seen anyone intentionally damage the green before like that, but I've seen plenty of Jekyll-Hyde transformations on the course, and all-out tantrums from people I would have never expected to see such behavior from. In my experience, you are more likely to see these kinds of outbursts in people who have an unhealthy, perfectionistic streak in their personality. (Full disclosure: I once threw my putter into a bunker in frustration after my FIFTH consecutive three-putt of the round one day in my third year playing.

IMO, It was your responsibility to slap some sense into him as he apparently has none. This type of action cannot and should not be tolerated.

Colby327

Wow. And you had to fix his damage yourself? Was he just going to leave the gash there? That's totally unacceptable. Friend or not, that's almost enough for me to not play with someone ever again. And I'd bring it up everytime he asked to play again. I'm pretty easy going, and swearing, club throwing, etc. are tolerable to me within reason.

The window of opportunity, for you to deliver a resonating message, has passed. Why people start threads with the argument, "should I have done something"...boggles my mind. Sure your "newbie" partner was out of line....did you really need to start a thread to confirm that? I got a genuine laugh from [color=#006400]kellygreen...

Uncalled for and shouldn't be happening on the golf course. Whatever happened to this being a "gentleman's" game. That kind of behavior should not be tolerated. I would definitely say something.

What to do if your lawn is dead?

What To Do If Your Lawn is Actually Dead. If your tests come up empty and you’re left with a dead lawn, you’re going to have to work to get it back in shape. Dead grass can’t come back the same way dormant grass can – you’ll need to start over. Let’s take a quick look at the different ways you can replace dead grass.

Why is it important to know if grass is dead?

Determining whether your grass is actually dead or just dormant is important because it dictates what your next steps should be. If it salvageable, you can save time, money, and a lot of work by restoring it rather than starting all over. If not, no harm no foul.

How to grow a sandbox?

Spread seed (and compost if needed) so that they land firmly in the soil you tilled. Apply natural or chemical fertilizer to get it off on the right foot, and water & mulch it with healthy grass clippings or leaves for additional nutrients. Maintain it with proper sunlight & water so that it can grow.

Why do dead trees pull out?

The same applies to grass, where dead blades will pull out easily because they have lost their rooting while dormant grass holds on, taking an effort to uproot them.

Why is my grass not growing?

This happens due to soil compaction which is when the density of dirt, thatch, and grass is too thick for the air to penetrate. Without air, the grass cannot continue to grow and may find itself dormant.

What happens if you give grass water?

However, if you provide water and it still shows no sign of recovery, it is likely dead.

Why is there less water in my grass?

Water is the primary source of life for grass, but the same is true for weeds. When you have weeds growing alongside grass, they fight for available water in the roots & at the surface which means there is less water to keep your grass alive.
