The fix: Most adjustable drivers allow you to rotate the hosel to decrease loft. In this case, we reduced the loft from 11.5 to 8.5 degrees. The result: We saw a slightly lower launch angle with more efficient carry and a flatter trajectory for a more energetic landing angle that produced more roll.

Does loft increase spin?

More loft will not always lead to more spin, due to things such as impact points, spin lofts, face-to-path relationships, and the ball you play — but it is a good general rule of thumb. Many golfers are obsessed with lowering their spin, but remember that low spin is not great for everyone.

Do you need an adjustable driver for golf?

Most golfers don’t hit it perfectly off the tee so the majority of players can benefit from adjustability. I play my g30 in the Large plus setting. And it does seem to help promote a draw and higher ball flight. If I set it to the lowest loft setting I tend to hit really low fades.

This topic cracks me up. I think the technical answer is no. According to most actual loft can't be changed on an adjustable driver or a glued head. Only face angle. Which to me can be changed just by rotating the club in my hands.

MadGolfer76

If a group of golfers were handed three drivers without an indicated loft, and all three were actually the same loft, and a fitter said, "Of the three, this one will go higher and this one lower..." I find it hard to believe that most wouldn't actually make those identical clubs play higher or lower just by thinking there was a difference.

You have to realize that moving the shaft is accomplishing the same thing as bending an iron stronger, weaker, flatter, or more upright. However, because loft is measured differently on woods vs irons, technically the loft doesn't change.

Golfrnut

It is all dependent really on whether you measure the loft relative to the sole or relative to the hosel. But what you referring to is really not what I was talking about. Turning the club with a non-adjustable hosel is not quite the same as resquaring one after making a hosel adjustment because the shaft angle has been altered.
