I like it! A long putting competition. I hit my clubs fairly long (6'3", long arms, fairly flexible) but I tend to leave my putts just a bit short. I always enjoy the irony in that. But asking about club lengths is fine. You always watch the pros hit deep shots and you wonder.

As far as I need to. Don't think I've ever needed more than about 80 or 90 feet. I'm certainly not going to risk damaging it to do things with it that it was never designed to do.

I just watched a video where a Korean lady pro was out with a low cap doing some playing lessons. Said same thing - hit higher on the ball with upswing. Ball won't skip or slide. Her simple technique was always keep about a one ball distance between clubface and your ball at sa lot.

I seem to recall a study many years ago that found most tour pros use the bottom of the face, almost topping the ball and getting it to roll! I have also seen data that showed Tiger in his prime had the face significantly open at address but always returned it to square at impact.

They definitely do not hit it low on the face. In fact it’s the opposite. Most are surprised how high on the face a properly struck putt is

So just doing some logical reasoning....In order to hit the ball on the top of the putter face like that you need to have the shaft leaning forward at address/impact with the ball placed somewhere between the lead chest.

Then is the wear pattern on his putter lying to us? I don't know the real dimension of the face height of his putter (or any newport 2), But assuming it's ~1 1/4" tall (31.75mm), the center of the wear pattern is nowhere near 4.9mm above the horizontal CL.
