Remove the oil filter then undo the large nut - I think its 1" or something around that size. Also disconnect the 2x coolant lines. You could bypass it but you'd need to fit a shorter tube for the oil filter housing and connect the 2 coolant lines together, eg with a U shaped tube.

Where do you mount an oil cooler?
In most cases the oil cooler can be mounted between the main radiator and the grille for maximum airflow. But on some cars you may have to mount it low down behind the front valance. Some coolers have to be mounted upright; others can be on their side or even upside down.
Does it matter which way you mount a oil cooler?
No, does not matter... Provided you arent running all sorts of 90 degree bends and such. Each bend is a pressure drop so you want to minimize them.
Do I need a thermostat for oil cooler?
Yes, you need a thermostat. Cold oil is not good for an engine. Its a heat exchanger. On a cold engine the coolant heats up quicker than the oil, so its good, it heats the oil quicker than it would without it.
Do oil coolers need fans?
Oil coolers, as the name suggest, reduce the temperature of the oil. Usually mounted in front of the cooling systems, engine oil cooler with fan can prevent the oil from reaching damaging temperatures.
Does oil cooler add HP?
What's really nifty is that any heat relieved by an oil cooler is relatable to some amount of horsepower that is not lost as waste heat in the engine. Beals said the rule of thumb is 1 horsepower equals 2,544 BTU per hour.
Can you install oil cooler upside down?
automotive type is designed so that gravity pulls the oil being cooled down through the tubes, mounting this upside down means the pump has to push that oil up, creating some backpressure. but either way it should do the job.
Can you install an oil cooler sideways?
fittings up, or sideways is fine if the "in" is the bottom, it can force air out. fittings down is no go as it can potentially trap air.
Can oil cooler causing low oil pressure?
If the oil cooler bypass-valve is stuck in the position where oil is not going through the oil cooler, it's going to get pretty damn hot. Causing the viscosity to break down causing you to lose pressure.
When should I fit my oil cooler?
FITTING AN ENGINE OIL COOLER TO A DRY SUMP VEHICLE Also oil on the return to the tank will be in an aerated condition which is thermally less efficient to cool. Serious consideration should be given to fitting the cooler in the pressure line, after the oil filter.
What size oil cooler do I need?
Each factor plays a role in deciding which cooler best fits your requirements. A basic rule of thumb is to add as big of an oil cooler as can fit in the available space that receives good airflow, and then add a thermostat so that the oil can be kept in the proper temperature range.
What does an oil cooler thermostat prevent?
Oil coolers help prevent the oil from getting too hot, but are also prone to lowering oil temperatures too much during street driving, especially in colder weather. This unit's built-in thermostat helps protect the engine by speeding up warm-up time and maintaining oil temperatures at optimal levels.
