Getting Started

Before we dive deep into organizing all of your golf bag essentials, there are a few preliminary tasks you have to take care of.

How to Organize Your Golf Clubs

One of the first steps to whipping your golf bag into shape is to organize your golf clubs. After all, holding your clubs is the primary purpose of having a golf bag. If you don't want to waste valuable time sifting through your clubs to find your putter or woods — keeping them in the right order is the best way to go.

How to Organize Your Apparel

How to Organize Your Golf Balls

Most bags offer a specific section to store your balls. That said, you don't want to overload the number of balls you take with you. Having too many isn't necessary and will make it more difficult to organize the rest of your bag.

How to Organize Your Golf Accessories

Organizing your accessories is crucial if you want to have a clear mind while on the green. However, your strategy is limited to how many pockets your stand bag offers. Fortunately, most medium and large golf bags provide plenty of pockets to hold a reasonable amount of accessories.

How to Organize Your Valuables

If you have a newer stand bag, chances are there's a dedicated area to store your valuables. What's more, golf bag manufacturers tend to make these compartments out of durable ermine and velour. Also, they tend to make the valuables pocket waterproof to keep your phone and wallet nice and dry as you play.

Golf can be quite physically demanding, especially if you're walking the course. Naturally, you'll want to pack water and some snacks to keep your energy levels in check. As you can see from the information above, it's not wise to shove your snacks and liquids into any compartment that has additional space.

Seems sort of a crazy question , but i bought all new clubs this summer after having the same set for the past 12 years, A buddy told me to put a name tag on my bag to eliminate any confusion in case bags get mixed up or lost etc.

HoffTTM

Multiple bag tags of clubs/organisations you are not a member of are for posers. It's the same people that try and wear as many different high profile course clothing items when you see them roll up at St Andrews. Pebble windbreaker, cap from Pinehurst, shirt bought the day before from Kingsbarns. We get it, you like golf.

Just read the Golf Digest article about the 10 things wrong with your bag ( https://www.golfdigest.com/story/10-things-wrong-with-your-golf-bag) and one of the things was that we shouldn't be putting our names on the bag.

slide13

That was a dumb article. No clubs over 5 years old? Really!? And while only carrying 6 balls makes perfect sense for a decent golfer I know plenty who would have a tough time getting through 18 on that ration.

Ghostwedge

OP @ i used to think just Pro's and scratch or better should have a name on the bag.....

brew4eagle

Personally, when I see name/initials on a bag or any golf gear (e.g., putter, wedge) I think it's kind of pompous. I see it as reserved for tour players, and even then what's the point? Everyone knows who they are. Now for advertising purposes as OP mentioned, I think that's smart.

If you do the exact opposite of whatever Golf Digest recommends you’ll be two steps ahead.

MadGolfer76

If you aren't a pro, it feels to me like putting a name tag on your Smurfs lunchbox at school.

What is a golf bag?

A golf bag, originally a primitive canvas pencil bag, was for carrying clubs, not making a fashion statement. These days, however, and especially among younger players, a good bag is defined by how it looks as much as by how it performs.

How to get the golfer vibe?

Another great way to get the serious golfer vibe is to deck out your bag with pins and badges. If you’ve played in any high-level amateur events, you’ve probably got a couple of plastic name tags. Get these on the carabiner and ahead of the towel – show off those prestigious name tags with pride! For the average golfer, the emphasis may have to fall more on pins or club badges. Many clubs these days sell metal pins adorned with their logos and these make a real statement when pinned on a pocket of your bag. My preferred area is the ball pocket, and this is also the place to sew on any badges. Why not show your passion for your favourite football club or your country? Pimp out your bag with a Chelsea FC or England badge!
