The TCS function is switched off when the button   is pressed for approximately one second. If the button   is pressed for longer than approximately 3 seconds, the electronic stability control (ESC), including the TCS function, is switched off. When it's slippery out I sometimes put it in ESC-Sport. Lets the back end go a little and then I can laugh like a maniac for not dying today.

I've been reading Jack Baruth in Road & Track for a while and feel he's one of us as far as driving enthusiasm goes. Also agree in principle that all drivers should master car control without assistance from electronic nannies. But realistically it isn't going to happen in the US and probably not in the UK either.
