If a golfer sets up with a closed face at address and hits the ball straight, it doesn't mean that's the optimum setup - although it obviously is for the golfer who has a tendency to have an open face at impact, and this is useful band-aid therapy.

Looks like I'm going to be the first and possibly only one on this side of the coin..... At address, I, to varying degrees, "hood" (close) every club in the bag on most shots. I also play with a fairly strong left hand grip, neutralized by a weaker right hand, and have a narrower, as well as slightly open, stance.

Always set up the bottom 2 grooves perpendicular (vertical) to the taget line. If anything else, that means you have swing path issue.
