I found an article on regripping and the author stated Double Sided Scotch Tape is fine.

I have used no grip tape on shaft for years. I use a midsize Lamkin, and my grip size comes out perfectly at 3/64ths. Just make sure all of your shaft butts are the same diameter to make sure your grip size is consistant.

Put 1 layer of regular masking tape on there and blow them on..you'll never need to re-tape again. The grips will not twist and take 5 seconds to get off when they need to be replaced.

With an air compressor, yes you do not need tape or solvent. You can use masking tape (as opposed to double sided tape with out the air compressor) to build up the grip of you want it a bit thicker.

i'm currently in a pgm program, and my club repair instructor does exclusive work for lots of pros, zack johnson to name one. he says the best way to install grips is with masking tape and rubber cement.

i asked him about the air gun, he said he would reccomend double sided tape because the tape is what holds the grip onto the club.
