1. The Ranch
Daniel: All around the best golf course design in MA. Place is pristine. Experience is awesome. Most memorable part of the experience was the opening hole. We were so excited to play this track we’ve heard so much about.
2. Farm Neck
Daniel: Where to start with this place…easily the most gorgeous golf course I’ve played in MA. So many great holes along the water. Every hole fun and playable. Great risk-reward scenarios. It’s going to challenge you. But in all the right ways. You won’t worry about losing your ball all day.

Between the two courses, practice facility, clubhouse, and service, you truly feel like a “member for the day.” Both courses offer awesome views, pristine conditions, bomb-able fairways, and loads of challenges.
5. Red Tail
Daniel: There’s a very important characteristic shared between the top five courses on this list: they are all designed for the average hacker to feel excited and free to take out driver on most every hole. I like to be challenged, which Red Tail does. But when I think about Red Tail, I think about how fun a driving course it is.
6. George Wright
Daniel: Hard for me to not rank this one higher…tremendous old school course. A lot of people in the area look down on it because it’s city-run but they could not be more wrong.
7. Granite Links
Daniel: I know this is one of the most talked about public courses in MA but, full disclosure, I hated this place. Only time I’ve been was in the windiest conditions I’ve ever golfed in, which I assume is pretty common on the high and exposed layout. Every tee shot is a forced carry. While wide, it at times felt overly penal.
8. Ledges Golf Club
Daniel: This course is maybe the only thing that’s ever made me want to live in Western, MA. Drive up a hill behind an elementary school to discover an inexpensive, challenging 18 that’s always in good condition.
