Just for kicks, I regripped a wedge tonight. Really poured the solvent to it (Golfsmith brand solvent & tape) and it dried completely in less than 30 minutes. FWIW .......

I just regripped a putter with a SS 3.0 and it is taking for-flipping-ever for it to dry. Usually within a hour or so it is set, but this one was sitting for well over 6 hours and still spins free. May have to pull it and try again.

Go get some paint thinner, naphtha or mineral spirits and just use a small amount. Work fast or you won't get it all the way on.

The key to solvent is to use as little as necessary to get the grip on. By minimizing solvent use, you also minimize the dry / set time.

As can be deduced by the previous posts, drying time largely depends on the solvent used. (Of course, this discussion is moot for the OP since the time, and playing opportunity, has passed...two and a half years ago.)#N#Odorless mineral spirits is the absolute worst in my experience.

Thanks mate, i like your advice about seating them on the ground in future. I guess since this if the first vice-less grip application i've done, it's a learning curve. But it's reassuring to know that the grip i've put on should be fine though. Thanks again :-)

Thanks Ajlepisto, think i'm just looking for reassurance about the grip. I don't have an air compressor to blow grips on or off, so i don't know any other way to take the grip off. As it's a NDMC it's not cheap so i don't want to sacrifice it. It's a barely noticeable slight wobble right at the butt end.

How can I make grips last longer?

Grips can last longer with standard maintenance. Grips will naturally wear down from exposure to the elements and play. To extend the life of your grips, we recommend cleaning your grips throughout the season to remove oils and dirt that have built up.

How do I clean golf grips?

To extend the life of your grips, we recommend cleaning your grips several times each season to remove the oils and dirt which can build up with consistent use. What do you need: Mild dish soap and water, soft scrub brush and a towel. Mix the soap in a bowl of warm water. Dip the scrub brush in the soapy water and scrub the grip on all sides.

Where should I store my golf clubs?

Store your golf clubs inside to extend the life of your grips. High or low temperatures can break down the rubber, so leaving your clubs outside or in a car trunk is not recommended.

How Long Does It Take?

There are several ways to determine how long to wait after re-gripping your golf clubs.

Day 39: Practiced when it was too dark to record video, but did take out Mevo to get some basic ball flight info. Shifted focus to backswing for today, just to give myself a break from downswing motion which I think will benefit from some camera work once I manage to practice while the sun is up. Worked with 8-iron tonight.

What is the best grip for golf?

Your golf grip impacts the orientation of the club face. And as you may be aware, face control is vital for a successful golf swing. Now, a neutral grip is the best grip for easy, no-fuss face control. But if that grip is not the most natural grip for you, don’t worry.

What happens if you have a weak grip?

If you have a weak grip, the clubface will point downward at the top of your swing. This creates an open clubface. Watch Jon Rahm, and you’ll notice he often has an open face at the top of his swing. However, he knows how to correct his clubface in the downswing. That’s a tall order for casual golfers.

What is the top hand in golf?

Your top/lead/dominant hand in golf is the opposite of what you consider your dominant hand to be in day-to-day life. If you’re right-handed, your top hand is your left hand. If you’re left-handed, it’s your right hand. The bottom hand is your trail hand. For right-handed golfers, this your right hand.

What is a ten finger grip?

If all ten fingers are against the handle of your golf club, you have a ten finger grip. This is also known as the baseball grip. If you were to lift the club off the ground, you would see that you’re holding it the same way you’d hold a baseball bat. Here’s how to achieve a proper ten finger grip.

What is overlap grip?

The overlap golf grip is especially popular among men and strong golfers. You may see some Tour professionals using other grips, but generally, those who want to play at the highest level opt for the overlap grip.

Is interlocking grip common in golf?

The interlocking grip is not super common in professional golf, but it is present. In fact, some of the best players in the world choose this style of golf grip.
